Interactions:

Ampicillin

  • Adverse Effect: decreased contraceptive effectiveness  
  • Clinical Management: During concurrent use of ampicillin and Ethinyloestradiol , an additional form of birth control should be used.

    Betamethasone

  • Adverse Effect: increased Betamethasone effects  
  • Clinical Management: Patients should be monitored for increased Betamethasone effects andthe Ethinyloestradiol dose may have to be reduced.

    Carbamazepine

  • Adverse Effect: decreased contraceptive effectiveness  
  • Clinical Management: In some women the use of higher estrogen content in the contraceptive may be sufficient; however, use of alternate methods of birth control may be necessary.

    Carbenicillin

  • Adverse Effect: decreased contraceptive effectiveness  
  • Clinical Management: During concurrent use of penicillin and Ethinyloestradiol , an additional form of birth control should be used.

    Cloxacillin

  • Adverse Effect: decreased contraceptive effectiveness  
  • Clinical Management: During concurrent use of a penicillin and Ethinyloestradiol , an additional form of birth control should be used.

    Doxycycline

  • Adverse Effect: decreased contraceptive effectiveness  
  • Clinical Management: During concurrent use of doxycycline and Ethinyloestradiol , an additional form of birth control should be used.

    Efavirenz

  • Adverse Effect: Increase in plasma concentration of Ethinyloestradiol  
  • Clinical Management: Clinical effects is not known, adjust the dose accordingly.

    Oxcarbazepine

  • Adverse Effect: Co-administration causes drastic reduction in the Conc   of hormonal contraceptives and makes it less effective.
  • Clinical Management: Avoid the combination as far as possible.

    Penicillin V ( Phenoxymethyl )

  • Adverse Effect: decreased contraceptive effectiveness  
  • Clinical Management: During concurrent use of penicillin and Ethinyloestradiol , an additional form of birth control should be used.

    Pioglitazone

  • Adverse Effect: Decrease in the plasma concentration of Ethinyl estradiol and can results in decreasing its contraceptive efficacy  
  • Clinical Management: Additional caution regarding contraception should be exercised when contraceptive preparations containing Ethinyl estradiol and Pioglitazone are administered together.
